When the mot
orcycle needs to be stored for a long period of • me, you should:
- Thoroughly clean the motorcycle.
- Start and run the engine for about 5 minutes to heat the transmission oil and
then drain it (see the ‘Draining the crankcase’ sec! on on p. 20).
- Put in new transmission oil.
- Empty the fuel tank (if le
" for a long ! me, petrol deteriorates).
- Lubricate the chain and all cables.
- Put oil on all unpain
ted metal surfaces to prevent rust, but avoid ge#
ng it on
the brakes and rubber parts.

Wrap the exhaust pipe with a plas! c bag to prevent rus! ng.
- Place the motorcycle in such a way that the two wheels do not touch the
ground (if this is not possible put cardboard underneath the wheels).
- Cover the motorcycle to protect it from dust and dirt.
To put it into opera• on a! er storage:
- Remove the plas! c bag from the exhaust pipe.
- Tighten the spark plug.
- Fill up the fuel tank.
- General lubrica! on.
- Check tyre pressure, in
fl ate them to the correct pressure if necessary.
To avoid excessive ageing of the plas! c and other washable parts of the motor-
cycle, we recommend careful cleaning of them. If you use high pressure and/or
temperature water equipment, take care to keep the water jet at least 30 cen! me-
tres away from the surfaces to ensure that the plas! c stays shiny and the s! ckers
that decorate the motorcycle are not removed.
