GARMIN MapSource
®
is a collection of detailed mapping data compiled into distinct CD-ROM’s which can be
downloaded from a PC to 8 and 16 MB Data Cards for use with the StreetPilot. The maximum number of maps that can be used by
the StreetPilot is 50. Although 16 MB Data Cards allow you to download maps containing more data, the maximum number of
maps than can be used by the StreetPilot remains at 50. Many MapSource maps, such as MetroGuides contain large amounts of data
and will fill an 8 MB Data Card, thus limiting the number of maps to only one. However, smaller maps such as Topographic can be
stored on cartridges in greater numbers. All maps run concurrently and display when you travel through the area of coverage or use
the panning arrow to move to them. You cannot view multiple types of MapSource maps at the same time, there is a hierarchy that
places certain types of maps in front of others.
Here is a list of hierarchy for your reference: 1. MetroGuide, 2. Topographic, and 3. World Map. The type of map being
displayed will appear below the map scale bar in the lower left corner of the Map Page.
System requirements are: Pentium processor, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, 16 MB minimum RAM, 20
MB free hard disk space, CD-ROM drive, 256-color display adapter and monitor, mouse or other pointing device. Uses data
transfer cable provided with the StreetPilot. Contact your GARMIN Dealer or GARMIN Customer Service to order MapSource
CD-ROM’s.
