6.9 Solenoid Valve
6.9.1 Specification

Electrical Rating: 120VAC, 50/60Hz, 0.088A
•
Power: 10.5VA per Coil
•
Permissible Ambient (Surface) Temperature: -20 deg F to 280 deg F (-29 to 138 deg C)

Gas Connection: 1/2 NPT Inlet x 1/2 NPT Outlet

There are two solenoid vales for each manifold/gas train. A 24” or 36” unit has one manifold
and two gas solenoid valves; a 48” or 60” unit has two manifolds and four valves. Each pair of
valves is mounted on a bracket inside the left leg.
6.9.2 Testing a Solenoid Valve
For these particular solenoid valves in HEEGM, it is not possible to test the coil windings because
the coils have a rectifier board built into the connection to the coil. The rectifier converts AC to DC
and protects the coil through the diodes.
To test these coils on the field, perform a
continuity test
.
6.9.3 Removing & Installing a Solenoid Valve
DANGER
Turn off gas supply and remove main power supply to the unit.
WARNING
Test for gas leaks before returning the equipment back into service.

IMPORTANT
Each solenoid valve has a directional requirement. The “IN”
and “OUT” ports are marked clearly on the valve. Ensure the
gas flows throw the valve in the direction indicated.

IMPORTANT
Ensure to connect wires to the correct lever connectors and
solenoids. Always refer to the wiring diagram.

IMPORTANT
Because of the compact design of this model, we recommend removing the whole
assembly of valves and side manifold when replacing a solenoid valve.

IMPORTANT
To avoid damaging the valve, do not use a wrench on any surface of the valve other
than the casting flats at the inlet and outlet ends of the body.
