Test: ATS
If the input of the system is configured to run from both the grid and, during grid power failure,
from the generator verify that the ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) provides the full 10 second
changeover time. The system will transfer to battery mode when the grid feed is dropped. Once
the 10 second change over time is complete and the generator has begun supplying ac the UPS
will begin to operate the rectifier. The rectifier will then begin its power walk-in to slowly transfer
the load from the battery to the generator. An auxiliary contact can be set to limit battery
charging during the use of the generator. Select an auxiliary contact that can be wired to the N.O.
(normally open) (default system controller set) or N.C. (normally closed) transfer switch dry
contact.
Do not use auxiliary #1 or #3 they are already taken by the back-feed and surge
protector.
To perform the ATS test:
1.
From the System Menu choose
Setup > Dry contacts > Generator mode setup
.
The Generator screen appears:
Figure 47: Generator mode
2.

.
Now that it is enabled the battery charging current will be limited when the contact opens or
closes depending on controller setting configuration.
