3.4.2. START-UP. PREVIOUS OPERATIONS TO MIG/MAG WELDING.
The system connection must be made depending on the welding process chosen, as indicated in the previous chapter.
Before you perform a final start-up of the system, you should carry out the following operations:
1st) Make sure the mains voltage is 230 V.
2nd) Change the polarity if it is necessary. Polarity to negative (for tubular wire without gas). See 3.4.1.3.
3er) If the material to be welded is aluminium, change the liner and the wire guide conduit for the graphite liner with
the torch totally stretched.
1st
2nd

4th
Leave the wire conduit as
near the contact tip as
possible.
Screw the liner fastening
stop.
Secure the liner conduit
with the locknut and trim
the excess liner leaving it
at the right measurement.
Leave the liner as close
as possible to the
driving motor roller.
4th) Depending on the wire diameter, fit the groove of the suitable driving wheel to the work to be carried out.
5th) Choose suitable gas to wire type to be welded. In the case of carrying a mobile workstation, check that the gas
bottle is properly supported by the bottle holder system. Above all check that the safety chain is perfectly fastened.
6th) Install the pressure-reducing valve 6 and connect gas hose 5 checking that there are no leakages, throughout the
whole circuit. Gas flow must be between 8-12 l/min.
7th) Connect the cooling unit to machine using the cable 13
(cooled system)
8th) Fit the wire reel into the support axle L.
9th) Slot the welding wire into the driving system. Do not force the wire pressure handle M, as if this is too tight, the
motor remains on overload and does not reach the maximum speed, and if the handle is too slack, the wire could slip.
(MIG/MAG).
10th) Once the wire has been fitted, we can then hook up the torch 7 or 14 (cooled system) to Euro-connector.
11th) Respecting the colours blue and red (cooled system), connect the hoses 12 to torch 14 and cooling unit.
