3.2 Overview of cylinder types
The cylinder systems 31 and 37 (detect3) and 88 (PZ 88) allow you to repin five different basic types
of cylinder:
Double cylinder with standard function
Double cylinder with emergency function on one side
Double cylinder with emergency function on both sides
Half cylinder
Cylinder with thumbturn
Explosion drawings and tables for these 5 cylinder types are provided on the next pages.
Please note that the exact dimensions for the individual components of a cylinder are not
shown here. The drawings give an overview of the components needed for an exemplary cylinder
length.
3.3 General information
1. Individual cylinder types, e.g. half cylinders or cylinder types in certain lengths, e.g. cylinders
with emergency function with a 31 mm outer side, require special aspects to be considered
during assembly. These have been set out in the descriptions and tables.
2. The retaining rings cannot be reused when they have been overextended.
3. Please do not use excessive force when compressing the retaining rings as this could damage
the plug. Damaged plugs may result in operating problems or total failure.
Retaining rings should be slightly loose when removing the pliers.
4. Check the cylinder's functioning after assembly and lubricate with BKS
B 9780 0001
high-
performance maintenance spray.
5. The special
B 9796 0004
assembly pliers are required for assembling double, four-fold, pinion,
special and cogwheel cylinder cams. These are not included in the assembly case.
6. Additional compartments such as bodies and plugs, which are not included in the assembly
case, are required for changing cylinder lengths.
