CSS components
This chapter describes how to handle CSS components and how to identify and
replace faulty CSS components yourself.

Upgrades, conversions or replacement of non-CSS components are
described in the options guide or service supplement and may only be
carried out by authorized, qualified personnel.

In the PRIMERGY BX620 S5 server, the following components are CSS
components:

Hot-plug components
–
Hot-plug hard disk drives
The hot-plug components can be extended or replaced during operation.

CAUTION!
Only hard disk modules can be added or replaced while the system
is running. For all other system components, the server blade must
be switched off and in most cases must be removed from the basic
unit (except when installing a storage module). For a detailed
description of the required procedure, see the options guide or
service supplement.

Memory modules
You can replace these components yourself in the case of an error. Exten-
sions and upgrades may only be performed by qualified staff. They are
described in the options guide.
