Installation and operation
Configuring a Server Blade
I
The RemoteDeploy optional software package is available from
Fujitsu Technology Solutions customer service under the order
number U15000-C180.
Reference installation
A reference installation of a server blade using ServerView Installation Manager
acts as the basis for a clone image. The image is created and then used by
RemoteDeploy for the fast installation and configuration of further server blades.
I
You will find more details on using the ServerView Installation Manager
in the operating manual for ServerView Installation Manager, which is
included on the PRIMERGY ServerView Suite DVD 2. This DVD is part
of the PRIMERGY ServerView Suite, which is included in the scope of
delivery of each server.
Hardware preparation
To install a server blade for the first time using ServerView Installation Manager
or to make changes at a later time, the relevant server blade must be connected
to a CD-ROM/DVD drive and a floppy disk drive via the USB/VGA interface (see
the
section “Connecting the Server Blade” on page 37
). In addition, a monitor,
keyboard and mouse must be connected to the KVM blade on the rear of the
basic unit, and are switched to the relevant server when the KVM key is pressed.
Connecting CD-ROM/DVD drive and floppy disk drive to the server blade via USB
Ê
Connect the breakout cable to the USB/VGA port on the front of the relevant
server blade (
figure 6 on page 37
).
Ê
Connect the data cable of the CD-ROM/DVD drive and the floppy disk drive
too, if required, to the USB ports of the breakout cable (see
figure 6 on
page 37
).
Ê
Make sure the basic unit is switched on.
Ê
Press the On/Off button on the control panel to switch the server blade on
(item 2 in
figure 7 on page 40
.)
Ê
If the CD-ROM/DVD drive and the floppy disk drive are not to be supplied
with power via the USB hub of the breakout cable, connect them directly to
the power outlet.
