The built-in fl ash can be used to control op-
tional remote fl ash units.

SUPPRESSED FLASH
SUPPRESSED FLASH
The fl ash does not fi re even when the subject is
poorly lit. A tripod is recommended.
* Red-eye removal is available in these modes when Intelligent Face De-
tection is active and red-eye removal is on. Red-eye removal minimizes
“
red-eye
” caused when light from the fl ash is refl ected from the subject’s
retinas.

Depending on the distance to the subject, some lenses may cast
shadows in photos taken with the fl ash.

The fl ash may contact accessories mounted on the hot shoe. If neces-
sary, remove accessories before raising the fl ash.

If

is displayed when the shutter button is pressed halfway, the
fl ash will fi re when the photo is taken.

Except in commander mode, the fl ash may fi re several times with
each shot. Do not move the camera until shooting is complete.
Flash Sync Speed
The fl ash will synchronize with the shutter at shutter speeds of 1⁄180 s or slower.
Optional Flash Units from Fujifi lm
The camera can be used with optional Fujifi lm shoe-mounted fl ash units.
Third-Party Flash Units
Do not use third-party fl ash units that apply over 300 V to the camera hot
shoe.
