Inspections - replacement of anode
A magnesium anode is mounted on the inside of the container. With respect
to other metals this is a base metal, hence the anode corrodes and not the
container. The anode’s connection to the metal container causes the container
to be negatively charged, thereby counteracting corrosion in the container.
IMPORTANT: The anode must be inspected at least once annually. If the anode
shows signs of strong corrosion or calcification, then it must be replaced. May
only be performed by certified technicians.
Damages caused by missing anodes are not entitled to make claims for
compensation and hence are not encompassed by the warranty.
Decalcification
In order to ensure its effectiveness, the heating element should be decalcified
once annually. May only be performed by certified technicians
Switch off the electrical power
Empty the water container
Unscrew the protective shield
Unscrew the thermostat
Unscrew the heating element and carefully clean off the muck and deposits.
Then remount the parts concerned, check that the gaskets are intact and
correctly placed. The thermostat must be correctly connected to the heating
element.
IMPORTANT: Before you switch the power on again, the container must be
completely filled with water. It you power up the water heater without it being
full of water, the heating element will immediately break and must be replaced.
Discarded spare parts
Disposal of electrical spare parts and devices that are too old must with
respect to applicable laws comply with DIRECTIVE 2002 / 96 / EC - WEEE.
Electrical devices must not be disposed of as normal refuse. Rather, they must be
delivered to the relevant recycling location
