
1. Position front seat in vehicle. Install front seat anchor nuts and bolt (DO NOT tighten at this time).
Tighten rear anchor nuts to specification. See
TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
. Tighten front anchor nuts
to specification. Tighten fifth foot anchor bolt to specification. Install anchor bolt caps. Install fifth foot
trim cover. Remove pretensioner simulator from appropriate connector and reconnect connectors.
2. Connect negative battery cable. With air bag simulators installed at all remaining deployable devices,
perform system operation check. See
SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
. Disconnect negative battery
cable. Wait at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete stored energy. Activate air bag
system. See
ACTIVATING SYSTEM
under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
Check AIR BAG warning light for proper system function.
Removal & Installation (Without Seat Integrated Restraints)
1. Before proceeding, see
AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
. Disable air bag system. See
DISABLING SYSTEM
under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Use this procedure
to remove captain chair, 20% seat and full bench seats. Position seat to access anchor nuts and bolts.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove front seat anchor nuts and bolts. Disconnect electrical
connectors. With help from an assistant, remove front seat from vehicle.
2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten front seat anchor nuts and bolts to specification. See
TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
. Activate air bag system. See
ACTIVATING SYSTEM
under
DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Check AIR BAG warning light for proper system
function. See

GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)
Removal & Installation
1. Before proceeding, See
AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
. Disconnect negative battery cable. Turn
instrument panel steering column cover retaining clips 1-4 turn counterclockwise, then remove cover.
Loosen screws and disconnect 2 large bulkhead electrical connectors from instrument panel fuse junction
panel. See

2. Remove 2 bolts and 2 nuts and position instrument panel fuse block aside. See
Fig. 6
. Disconnect GEM
electrical connectors. Remove 3 screws and separate GEM from instrument panel fuse block.
3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See
TORQUE
SPECIFICATIONS
. Connect negative battery cable. Check AIR BAG warning light for proper system
function. See

NOTE:
Front seat anchor nuts and bolt must be tightened in specific order.
NOTE:
If installing NEW GEM module, it is necessary to upload module configuration
to scan tool. This information then needs to be downloaded to NEW GEM
module once installed. Follow manufacturer's instructions for scan tool being
used.
