10. Servicing, inspection, overhaul and testing by Fassmer-certified
service engineer
10.1 ANNUAL THOROUGH EXAMINATION:
All work in this section is only allowed to be carried out by service engineers with
a valid Fassmer-“Certificate of Competence” and Fassmer-ID- card as “Authorized
Service Engineer” for Rescue boats!
Unauthorized manipulations to the rescue boat system void all guarantees and resolve
Fassmer of all responsibility!

Remark:
It is recommended to arrange certified release gear service together with rescue boat
service which is required at same intervals according to hook manual !
Note:
All general notes in the beginning of chapter 7 regarding safety precautions, service
qualification level and reports and records are also valid for this chapter!
These annual thorough examination MUST be carried out acc. to IMO-MSC/Circ.

during the survey acc. to SOLAS, chapter. I, reg. 7 resp. 8.
Defects have to be solved and defective parts to be replaced. If this is not possible, such
defects have to be listed at the end of this list for quickest possible settlement.

Annex 2: “Guidance on Safety during
abandon ship drills using rescue boats”, for
example:

Before placing persons onboard a
rescue boat, it is recommended that the
boat first be lowered and recovered
without persons on board to ascertain
that the arrangement functions correctly.
The boat should then be lowered into the
water with only the number of persons
on board necessary to operate the boat.

To prevent lashings or gripes from
getting entangled, proper release should
be checked before swinging out the
davit.

Check all fittings, equipment etc. Clean,
grease or oil as applicable.
