10 Disassembly and repairs
Danger
Strong magnetic fields may occur when components of the linear axis are be-
ing dismantled. Strong magnetic fields can lead to serious health risks or even
death for persons with implants (e.g. heart pacemakers) or hearing aids, and
pregnant women.
•
Dismantling the components of the linear axis is never permitted.
•
Always leave the linear motor fitted inside the linear axis. Otherwise
strong magnetic fields may occur.
•
Always leave the housing of the linear motor mounted. The
screws in the housing must not be loosened.
•
If dismantling the components is unavoidable when disassembling
the linear axis, then this work must never be carried out by persons with
active implants.
Warning
Hot surface temperatures (70 °C during normal operation) can cause burns.
Make sure that hot surfaces on the linear module can only be touched if the
user is sufficiently protected against burns (e.g. by wearing protective
gloves).

Switch off the power supplies.
•
Remove the linear axis in a fully assembled state.
•
Always send the defective linear axis back to Festo.
Make use of the opportunity to have your linear axis overhauled by our repair
service. Only repair by Festo will guarantee that all safety standards are ob-
served. In order that professional overhaul can be guaranteed, we recommend
that you do not undertake repairs yourself.
