9 Service and maintenance
Caution
The use of acetone or similar synthetic-material dissolving cleaning agents
can destroy the linear axis.
For cleaning, use cleaning agents containing alcohol.
Caution
Lifting up and putting down the slide on the stator can dirty and/or damage
the surfaces of the air cushion bearing.
Avoid any unnecessary lifting up and putting down of the slide on the stator.
Caution
Moving the slide with force on the stator can damage the surfaces of the air
cushion bearing.
Moving the slide on the stator is not permissible without connected com-
pressed air. Do not attempt to move the slide with force.
Note
Malfunctions which occur due to insufficient or improper maintenance can
incur repair costs and cause a long downtime period of the linear axis.
Festo accepts no liability for damages caused by improper maintenance and
care.
The linear axis may only be maintained and repaired by Festo service person-
nel or by electrical engineering specialists who have been trained and in-
structed for that purpose.
The linear axis must be disconnected from the power supply prior to service
and maintenance work. Prevent the linear axis from being accidentally
switched on (e.g. attach warning sign to the mains switch for the entire system,
close off the work area). Always observe the 5 safety rules:
1. De-energise
2. Protect the device against being switched on again
3. Ascertain power supply is disconnected
4. Earth and short circuit
5. Cover or make inaccessible adjacent live parts
