Function and application
The positioner is intended for position control of pneumatic semi-rotary drives and double-acting linear
drives in process automation systems.
The product is intended for use in industrial environments. Outside of industrial environments, e.g. in
commercial and mixed-residential areas, actions to suppress interference may have to be taken.
Appropriate for operation are drives with a mechanical interface in accordance with VDI/VDE Direct
ive 3845. Appropriate mechanical mounting adapters are required for mounting (accessories

The CMSX enables simple and efficient position control based on the PID control algorithm. Positions
are specified via an analogue setpoint signal (0 V … 10 V or 0 mA … 20 mA or 4 mA … 20 mA). The integ
rated potentiometer senses the current position of the drive and forwards the measured value to the
internal regulator. The regulator compares the setpoint value specified by analogue means to the
measured value and actuates the internal valves accordingly by means of pulse-width modulation
(PWM).
