Battery Installation
The EX 200™ Control Panel is provided with a 12V, 12 A-h or a 12V, 35 A-h lead acid
battery. An optional 12V, 21 A-h battery is also available if required.
To install the battery:
1. Unlatch and open the enclosure door using a flat screwdriver.
2. Turn the black knob on the front panel counterclockwise to release the front panel
latch and open the front panel.
3. Remove the paper backing from the battery pad provided in the accessory kit and
stick the battery pad on the bottom of the enclosure in front of the battery restraint
bracket.
4. Remove the temperature sensitive label from the accessory kit. Remove the paper
backing and stick the label on the battery approximately as shown in Figure 2.
5. Place the battery on the battery pad and connect the red wire from terminal 46 to the
‘+’ battery terminal and the black wire from terminal 47 to the ‘-‘ battery terminal.
6. Close and secure the front panel by turning the black knob clockwise and close and
secure the enclosure door using a flat screwdriver.
The battery is maintained by a temperature-compensated automatic charging circuit and
normally does not require service. When the EX 200™ is armed, battery backup is
always operational as long as the battery can produce sufficient voltage (
10.2 Vdc) to
operate the system.
The operation of a battery disconnect relay, programmed by a DIP switch S3-8 located
on the PCB, determines if battery backup is available when the control panel is
disarmed. See the
Programming
section of this manual for more information.
NFPA 69 requires 24 hour battery backup. For this reason, the control panel was
designed to accommodate a larger battery if necessary. During the design of your
system, FENWAL design engineers will have determine if a larger battery was required
and will have include it as part of your system.
