Replace Basket Full Sensor
The motor will stop if the wastebasket is full. The shredder will not operate
until the excess paper is cleared.
The basket full sensor is an electric eye that monitors the paper level in the
basket. The sensor consists of a transmitter and receiver LEDs. On the C-320
and C-380, the LEDs fit in special 2-piece brackets that are attached to the
left and right sides of the underside of the cabinet shelf. On the C-320C and
C-380C, the LEDs fit into a bracket that is inserted into an opening on the
cabinet shelf. The wires from the sensor connect to the PC board. The sensor
connects to the Basket Full indicator LEDs through the PC board. (See the
wiring diagram.)
To replace the C-320 and C-380 basket full sensor:
1
Disconnect the basket full sensor wire connector from the PC board.
See the wiring diagram.
2
Remove the screw that holds each basket full sensor bracket to the
underside of the cabinet shelf. Note the color of each LED.
3
Separate the 2 pieces of the bracket and remove the LED.
4
Thread a new transmitter or receiver LED through the opening in the
cabinet shelf and place the LED in one piece of the brackets. Reunite
the 2 pieces of the bracket.
5
Place the bracket in position on the bottom of the cabinet
shelf making sure the 2 plastic tabs on each bracket fit in the
corresponding holes in the cabinet shelf.
6
Reattach the brackets to the cabinet shelf. Make sure the two LEDs
are pointing at each other and adjust, if needed.
