SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE.

 WARNING

Crazing (cracking) of lenses will cause re-

duced effectiveness of the light. Do not use

cleaning agent (which will cause crazing)

such as strong detergents, solvents, or pe-

troleum products. If crazing of lenses does

occur, reliability of light for emergency

signaling purposes may be reduced until

lenses are replaced.

5-1.  COLORED DOME INSERT OPTION INSTALLATION

(SMART PODS ONLY).

 WARNING

To provide proper warning colors to the

front and/or rear if dome inserts are used,

a clear dome must be used with the colored

inserts.

A.  Remove and retain the two Torx head screws

which secure the dome to the pod.

B.

Carefully remove the dome and set it aside.

C.

Place the front or rear insert in position and

ensure that the locating notches are properly positioned

on the locating ribs as shown in figure 5-1. If applicable,

repeat with the other insert.

CAUTION

Excessive tightening of the Torx head screws

will damage the screws.

D.  Replace the dome and secure with the previ-

ously removed Torx head screws.

5-2.  SMART POD SERVICING. (See figure 5-2.)

A.  Remove and retain the two Torx head screws

which secure the dome to the pod. Carefully remove the

dome and set it aside.

B.

To gain access to the motor, proceed as fol-

lows:

1.

Remove and retain the screws which se-

cure the pod to the lightbar extrusion.

2.

Remove and retain the screws which se-

cure the motor support assembly to the pod.

3.

Disconnect the six-pin motor cable plug

and the three-pin opto isolator cable.

4.

Carefully lift the motor support assem-

bly from the pod.

5.

After servicing is complete, reassemble

the pod by performing the above steps in reverse order.

5-3.  PCB SERVICING.

CAUTION

To avoid damage to the lightbar, disconnect all

power at the battery before proceeding.

A.

Cover Removal.

See figure 5-3. Remove and retain the four
