The circuit breaker performance is shown in the following finite state machine:
The way that the circuit breaker is monitored becomes more or less complex depending on whether it
is fitted with no breaker contacts, one breaker contact (52a or 52b) or both (52a and 52b).
If no breaker contacts are used, the monitoring of the circuit breaker is made through the current
measurement. This is, if less than 8% of rated current is detected it is considered the breaker is open
and if more than 10% of rated current is available, it is considered the breaker is closed.
If only the circuit breaker 52a contact is available, it should be wired to the corresponding physical
input. This physical input is then assigned to the "52a” logic signal. The 52b logic signal is calculated
internally as the negative of 52a.
If only the circuit breaker 52b contact is available, it should be wired to the corresponding physical
input. This physical input is then assigned to the "52b” logic signal. The 52a logic signal is calculated
internally as the negative of 52b.
