and the wire collar, note that there is another flat ground into the wire where the top
collar is installed. This may or may not be the case for your Glasair, but for the
model assembled for this manual, we used the smallest (5mm) spacer supplied
with the spinner as a filler piece to help reduce excess play in this assembly. Lock
down all the set screws.

5. The Glasair is prepped for retracts including a notch
cut into the firewall for clearance to the nose wheel
when the retractable gear is used. If you are using
the fixed gear the clearance notch is not required, in
fact it can be come a leak zone for air and fuel from
the cowl to enter the inside of the fuselage.
Therefore it is recommended that you either cover
or fill this clearance notch. Shown are a couple
pieces of scrap balsa installed with silcone seal –
thus removable if the retractable gear is ever used.

wheels and wheel pants onto the main gear. Sort
out the two 4mm x 40mm shoulder bolts, 6 washers
and 4 lock nuts, as well as the main landing gear

gear legs, note that they are not symmetrical.
Install them with the gear swept forward; that is with
the straight side of the gear forward and the tapered
side in back.
