fuselage. Flip the paper template back and side the cowl into position. With the
cowl aligned with at least 3 cowl screws, extend the template over the cowl and
mark the position of the clearance hole on the cowl.

3. Use a drill, a Dremel grinder and/or various round
files to carefully cut the hole in the cowl and bring it
up to size. Go slowly here, repositioning the cowl
over the mounting bracket to assure that the access
hole is aligned with the bracket. It looks really “Pro”
when the filler is flush with the surface of the cowl
and centered in its hole.

4. No matter whether you install a 2-stroke or a 4-stroke engine, with a side mounted
engine, access to the glow plug will be restricted. While it is possible to use one of
those long-stemmed glow lighters to reach through a (unsightly!) hole in the cowl to
the glow plug, we think a far better solution is a remote igniter,
located for access
directly from below. In that position it will be out of the line of sight, protected, and
not hard to find by touch. After installation, cut a clearance notch at the bottom
rear edge of the cowl.

5. Use the paper template method as shown in steps 2-3 to locate any other holes
needed: Needle valve, Remote Glow plug access, or other.
