The following figures represent ETAbox 21. They
are also applicable to other versions of ETAbox.
Checking function before initial filling
Before filling the ETAbox, test the functionality of
the entire heating system. For this purpose, fill
the ETAbox with just with a few pellets (for example in
sacks) in the area of the extraction unit. Loosen the
clamps to attach the fabric sacks to the frame, lift the
fabric sack slightly and fill it with some pellets. Then re-
attach the clamps.
Fill the ETAbox completely only once this functional
test has been positively completed.
Discharge screw and vacuum motor in simultane-
ous operation
During conveying, the discharge screw of the ETAbox
and the vacuum motor on the boiler must be in use si-
multaneously to prevent a blockage.
This simultaneous operation is already factory set
in the ETAtouch regulator. So is the overrun of the
vacuum motor after conveying, so that the pellet hoses
can be emptied.
Checking the fill level
The fill level can be gauged from the tension of the
fabric sack. For visual checks there are inspection
openings on both sides of the ETAbox.
Also subsequently re-tie the inspection openings,
so that no dust can escape during filling or
objects get into the ETAbox.
Fig. 8-1: Inspection opening for fill level
Due to the funnel-shaped extraction of the pellets
the actual amount of pellets remaining in the
ETAbox is significantly lower than the gauged amount.
Low feed pressure during filling
Set the feed pressure on the tank truck of the pellet
feed to low, so that the pellets are not injected into the
ETAbox at too high a speed and therefore shatter.
Only once the ETAbox is filled to around 60 cm below
the top edge can the feed pressure be raised.
Filling the ETAbox at underpressure
The ETAbox must be filled at underpressure. This
means that while injecting pellets, more air is extracted
than is supplied. Thus ensuring almost dust-free filling.
Open windows and doors during filling to ensure
sufficient air.
Maximum pressure during filling may not exceed
0.2 bar.
Both of the ETAbox filling nozzles can be used for the
filling hose as well as for suction.
After filling the ETAbox, remove the hoses of the
pellet feed from the ETAbox and connect them in-
terchangeably (filling hose on the previous return air
and vice versa) and inject pellets again.
The pouring angle remains small and once again
approx. 300 kg of pellets are injected.
Burn-back protection also when filling
The authorities or the chimney sweep often require
that a notice saying "CAUTION! Switch off boiler
before filling" must be affixed, easily visible, to the
filling nozzle covers. Burn-back flaps and sliders at the
boiler's combustion chamber are open during
operation, so during boiler operation, hot gases can be
sucked into the path of the pellets (due to underpres-
sure in the fuel deposit) or air can be blown through the
fuel path (due to overpressure in the fuel deposit). Both
effects can cause a fire. Strictly speaking, the boiler
should already be switched off two hours before filling
