Tighten clamp
Position the hand protector so that the
tip of the cutter bar rests in the notch
(when cutter is in the storage/trans-
port-position)

WARNING! Cutter blades are very sharp. Do not
grasp the blade with your hand and never wipe the
blade against your body.
WARNING! Always wear safety gloves when work-
ing with or near the hedge trimmer.
WARNING! Never run the engine or operate the
hedge trimmer when the cutter assembly is in the
storage/transport-position.
Place the machine on a flat and level surface with the engine
resting on the fuel tank guard. Make sure the blade cover is in
place.
1. With your right hand, grasp the handle, located immediately
aft of the hand protector. With your left hand, grip the ad-
justing lever on the cutter assembly. Fig. 49
NOTE!
The latch has an interlock which prevents inadvert-
ent depression of the latch release.
2. With the index finger of your left hand, press the latch re-
lease. With your left hand thumb, press the latch. Fig. 50
3. While holding the latch down, rotate the cutter assembly
using the adjusting lever until it is straight with the outer
tube (rotate 180°). Fig. 51
4. Release the latch and latch release. Make sure the latch
and the latch release return securely to a locking position.
5. Remove the blade cover from the blade. The engine may
now be started.
