Heat rash
Heat rash may sometimes occur on sensitive skin, i.e. the skin turns bright red as a result of the
residual infra-red (heat) rays. This reddening is not sunburn and will not impair your health. The
tanning periods should be shortened, allowing your skin to adapt gradually.
•
Carefully read JK's hints on tanning where you will find further rules and information.
•
Do not use the sunbed if the timer is faulty or the filter glasses are broken.
•
Particular care must be taken by individuals who are especially sensitive to UV rays and also
by persons taking certain medicines or using certain cosmetics.
•
Remove cosmetics in plenty of time before tanning and do not use any sun-screening agents.
•
Do not use the sunbed if you are taking medicines that make the skin more sensitive to UV
rays; consult your doctor if you are in any doubt.
•
Consult your doctor if persistent swellings, sores or pigmented moles appear on the skin.
•
Always use the goggles provided. Individuals having undergone eye lens surgery must always
wear UV goggles to avoid any risk to the eyes.
•
Do not take more than one period of exposure within 48 hours and per part of the body. Do not
sunbathe as well on the same day.
•
Observe the recommendations issued with regard to exposure periods, exposure intervals and
distances from the sunlamps.
•
Ultraviolet radiation from the sun or UV appliances may damage the skin or eyes. These bio-
logical effects will depend on the sensitivity of the individial's skin.
•
Sunburn may occur after excessive exposure. Excessive and frequently repeated exposure to
ultraviolet light from the sun or UV appliances may result in premature skin ageing and also
produce the risk of skin tumours.
•
If unprotected, the surface of the eye may be subject to inflammation. In some cases, exces-
sive exposure may damage the retina, resulting in the formation of catarracts after many re-
peated exposures.
•
The max. permissible number of exposures a year is 63, 43 and 33 respectively, depending on
the tanning period selected (see "General suntanning instructions", page 5).
NOTE
A deepening tan will require longer exposure periods (= tanning duration) and once a
certain depth of tan is reached you will find that no further progress will be achieved.
However, exposure periods must never be extended at random within the permissible
exposure durations. Without damaging health, this means that the final depth of tan
attained will be determined by skin type.
CAUTION
The sunbed may only be operated in conjunction with a timer, max. running time 30
minutes.
The timer scale must match the time recommended in the exposure programme.
Increasing the timer settings or disconnecting the timer may result in skin damage or
long-term skin disease.
