Compass measurements
Trouble
Causes and Solutions
Cannot measure
If the indicator hand is pointing to E, there is not enough battery power
remaining to perform measurements.
Charge the watch until the remaining battery level is 2 or higher.
U
“Charging the watch” on page 41
If the indicator hand is pointing to
, the watch is set to In-flight mode.
Release In-flight mode on the watch.
U
“Setting In-flight Mode” on page 36
There is a discrepancy
between the measurement
results and true north
Measurements performed at
the same location do not
match
Tilting the watch may result in incorrect measurements.
Make sure you keep the watch horizontal while measuring.
The watch may have been affected by magnetism.
❏
Calibrate the magnetic sensor.
U
“Calibrating the Magnetic Sensor” on page 88
❏
Make sure you perform measurements at a location distant from
magnetic products or strong magnetic fields.
U
“Notes and Mechanism on Compass Measurements” on page 86
There are two types or north; true north and magnetic north.
❏
If you want to use true north, set the direction (east or west) and
magnetic declination.
❏
If you want to use magnetic north, set the magnetic declination to 0.
U
“Setting the Magnetic Declination” on page 91
You may not be able to perform measurements correctly in locations
where geomagnetism is too weak.
Use the watch in combination with a compass and so on.
The magnetic declination has
changed to an unintended
value
The magnetic declination has
changed from 0 degrees
(magnetic north display
setting)
Depending on the Reference Value Setting set last time, the magnetic
declination may have been changed.
Set the magnetic declination again.
U
“Setting the Magnetic Declination” on page 91
The center hand does not
stop
The center hand vibrates while measuring.
