Preventing the paper-feed and paper-jam
problems
If you have frequent paper feed or paper jam problems, use this
checklist of corrective measures:

Use a higher-quality paper that is not too thin or rough.
❏
Do not place the printer on a surface that is smaller than the
printer’s bottom panel.
❏
Be sure to place the printer on a horizontal surface.
❏
Use an appropriate paper that is listed in “Available Paper”
on page 20.
❏
Fan the stack of paper and then tap its edges to align it before
you load it.
❏
Be sure to set the paper size switch according to the size of the
paper you loaded.
❏
Make sure that the MP tray, the standard lower cassette, and
the optional lower paper cassette are set properly.
❏
Make sure that the printer driver settings match the loaded
paper.
❏
Make sure that the appropriate paper source is selected in the
printer driver.
❏
Select the paper source on the application according to the
paper cassette that you loaded paper into.
❏
Clean the paper rollers inside the feeding area.
❏
Be sure to remove all of the jammed paper.
❏
Make sure that sheets of paper do not stick to each other.
