1.  The EBC 30 initializes when 120 VAC is supplied.  The control goes through its start-up sequence then

displays the differential pressure reading of the XTP2.

2.  The chimney fan will run continuously.  When no fireplaces are on and all dampers are closed,

the fan will run at an idle speed.

3.  When the user calls for heat , the fireplace damper opens.  The actuator is contains auxiliary switches that

are connected in series to the thermal limit circuit of the fireplace burner.  When the actuator moves to its

open position, the auxiliary switch closes, allowing the thermal limit circuit to close.

4.  When the pilot has heated the thermal couple in the limit circuit, the gas valve opens and allows the

fireplace to operate.  This circuit prevents the fireplace from operating when the damper is closed.

5.  At the same time the damper opens, the XTP2 senses the rise in pressure and sends a signal to the

control to increase the fan speed until the chimney reaches the pressure set-point of the EBC 30.

In the event of a mechanical or electrical failure, the auxiliary switch goes to the normally open position

and closes the gas valve.

6.  Upon additional calls for heat, the actuators again open, close the end switches, open the gas valves

and allow the fireplaces to operate.  The XTP2, EBC 30 and RSV fan go through the same sequence to

increase the fan speed until the chimney can maintain the pressure set-point.

7.  In the event of fan or control failure, the thermal limit circuit in the fireplace will still be active.  The

fireplace will remain operational until the thermocouple reaches 160

o

F; at which point, the circuit will

open and shut off the gas valve.
