Connecting the RS485 Modbus RTU interface
1
RS485 / pulse module
A shielded, two-wire cable is recommended for the connection between the RS485 master and the
measuring device. A cable that is specially designed for connecting RS485 interfaces should be used
where possible. However, satisfactory results can be achieved with most shielded cables for
connection distances of just a few meters. Cat IV network cables also deliver satisfactory results.
Given that the measuring device communicates with an external device via an RS485 connection,
distances of up to 1200 m can be covered under good conditions. Electrical interference or other
negative conditions can reduce the distance over which reliable operation is possible.
4.3.2
Pulse output
The pulse output/outputs is/are connected to the terminals of the pulse or RS485/pulse extension
modules which are provided for this purpose.

Relay connection
Semi-conductor relays are provided. The nominal power is 250 V, 50 mA for each relay. Connecting
cables must be as short as possible, meet the specific requirements and be filtered where necessary.
