Monitoring IDU Status
You can monitor the status of a SIT using the LEDs and the IDU Monitoring web page.
2.1.1 LEDs
The LEDs on the front of the IDU provide a quick way to verify that the unit is operating
properly (see
section 1.4
for a description of the IDU front panel). Under normal operation
you will see the following LEDs:
• The Power, Ready, Satellite Tx and Satellite Rx LEDs should be illuminated for satel-
lite network access.
• The Ethernet Tx and Rx LEDs may flicker (this indicates that the IDU is sending or
receiving data on the LAN).
• The Alarm LED should not be illuminated (for the series 2000 IDU).
2.1.2 IDU Monitoring Page
Check the IDU Monitoring web page for more detailed information about the IDU's status.
For a quick overview of IDU status, verify the four parameters shown in the table below.
Table 1:
Parameter
Normal Value
Description
SIT Operational
State
Active
The IDU is fully operational. It has access to
the forward and return satellite links, and it
has been validated by the hub. If RADIUS is
enabled, the IDU has been authenticated. If
IPSec is enabled, the IDU has established a
secure IPSec tunnel, or is in the process of
negotiating a tunnel with the IPSEC server.
FL Status
Acquired
The IDU has fully acquired the forward link.
RL Status
Ready Mode
The IDU has fully acquired the return link.
