7.3 Optional Equipment
These boxes are designed to allow easy use of common battery with
two 1+1 modules.
Their design Is identical, they differ only for the rating of
switches and DC current transformers.
•
The 125 A must be used with 30kVA modules.
•
The 250 A must be used with 40 and 60 kVA modules.
They are used to connect the two DC busses of the module to the
common battery and should be fitted as close as possible to the UPS
modules and offer the following features :
•
Possibility to insulate the DC bus of one module for
maintenance, leaving the full availability of the other module,
that is particularly useful for redundant system.
•
Allows both modules to measure battery current during charge
and discharge, allowing current limit during recharge of the
battery, maintaining for both module the correct computation of
allowable charge and time remaining during autonomy time.
•
The status of battery circuit breaker is sent to both modules and
each of them can trip it.
•
It allows the connection of a second battery temperature sensor,
allowing both modules to measure battery temperature and to
compensate charging voltage with temperature, In a similar
manner than the single module.
WARNING
There is no protection against closing one of these
switches on a shut-down rectifier when the battery
breaker is closed.
Such operation will cause trip of battery circuit
breaker and of battery fuses on one or both modules.
Be sure, before operating, that battery voltage and
rectifier voltage differ less than 10%: that may be
easily done reading Battery Voltage on panels of both
modules.
Connection of power cables to battery cabinet or battery switch box
and to modules is obvious, follow instructions of 3.3 and 3.3.2.
To connect signals it's necessary to build some screened cables; the
wires must accommodate 6.3x0,6 Faston - see Fig. 7-6.
To connect battery cabinet or battery switch box it's necessary to build
cables of the right length, as shown in the table.
The internal DC current transformer T11, mounted near battery fuse
in both modules must be disconnected and removed from DC bus +
cable, the disconnected wires of UPS auxiliary wiring must be re-
connected to cable D1 or D2 as shown In Fig. 7-6.
