2.0 WARNINGS
In case of replacement, select the same frequency indication as the one found in the barrier to be replaced (i.e.
F1 for F1, F3 for F3, etc.). To identify the match, use the “BARRIER CHANNELS” table.
In the event that pets (e.g. dogs, cats, etc.) are usually wondering around at the place of installation, it is
recommended that the system's sensitivity should be set with the greatest care, to avoid the risk of undesired
alarms due to the above-mentioned pets passing across the very sensitive areas at the ground level. To further
minimize such risk, the pair installation height may be slightly increased.
In the event that trees or bushes should, due to the action of the wind, affect the protected space, undesired
alarms may be triggered. Likewise, if the system is installed next to a hedge, the latter shall be carefully trimmed
to prevent it from affecting or obscuring the protected area.
Tall grass, shrubs and bushes reduce the sensitivity at the ground level.
Obstacles and pronounced differences in ground height, found inside the protected area, create blind areas and
highly sensitive areas
.
The system features good tolerance to weather events and climate changes. However, the following weather
conditions should be taken into account:
•
RAIN:
heavy rainfalls cause only a reduction in the signal power, whereas puddles may increase the
sensitivity at the ground level.
•
SNOW:
snowfalls do not affect the barrier sensitivity. In any case, the system will not function when it is fully
covered with snow; for this reason, great care shall be taken with regard to this when the system is installed
in places subject to frequent, heavy snowfalls.
•
FOG:
very thick fog may cause the signal intensity to be reduced to approximately one third. Due to the
compensation limits of the automatic gain control (C.A.G.), the barrier pair should be installed at a distance
not greater than 85% of the maximum range, in places where thick fog is a frequent occurrence.
The ambient work conditions range between
–20°C and +55°C. If the system is to be used at places where the
temperature may drop to less than 0°C, the special warming kit shall be installed permanently. This kit operates at 12
Vac, with a power consumption of 150 mA for every single barrier element (refer to paragraph 12: RS/MWA kit for
warming kit installation).
