1) Workplace safety
a)
Always keep your place of work clean and
illuminated. Untidy or poorly lit work areas can
result in accidents.
b)
Never use power tools in environments
subject to a risk of explosion, or in which there
are flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools
create sparks, which can ignite dust or fumes.
c)
Keep children and other people away when
using the power tool. Distractions may cause
you to lose control of the grinder.
2) Electrical Safety
a)
The plug of the power tool must fit properly in
the plug socket. The plug must not be modified
in any way. Never use a socket adapter in
conjunction with power tools connected to the
mains via a protected earth. Non-modified
and well-fitting plug sockets reduce the risk of
electric shock.
b)
Avoid physical contact with earthed surfaces,
such as pipes, radiators, stovetops and fridges.
The risk of an electric shock is increased if your
body is earthed.
c)
Keep power tools well away from rain or mois-
ture. Water ingress into power tools increases
the risk of electric shock.
d)
Never misuse the power cable as a. carrying
handle, to hang the grinder up, or to pull the
plug out of the wall socket. Keep the cable well
away from heat sources, oil, sharp edges or
moving machine parts. Damaged and/or twisted
cables increase the risk of electric shock.
e)
When using power tools in the open air, only
use extension leads that are certified for use in
outdoor areas. Using extension leads that are
certified for use in outdoor areas reduces the
risk of electric shock.
f)
If using the power tool in a damp environment
is unavoidable, then please use a ground
fault circuit breaker. Using a ground fault circuit
breaker reduces the risk of electric shock.
3) Personal Safety
a)
Be careful, keep focused on what you are
doing and approach any work with power tools
with a sense of reasonable caution. Never
use power tools if you are tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A
momentary lack of concentration when using
power tools can result in serious injury.

c)
Avoid switching on the grinder unintentionally.
Ensure that the grinder is switched off before
plugging it in to the mains or inserting the
battery, picking it up or carrying it. Having your
finger on the switch when carrying the tool or
plugging it in when switched on can result in
serious injury.
d)
Remove all adjusting tools and/or spanners
before switching on the power tool. Any tool or
spanner left in rotating parts when the tool is
switched on can result in serious injury.
e)
Avoid abnormal body postures. Ensure that
you adopt a firm stance and always keep your
balance. This will give you more control over the
tool in the event of unexpected situations.
f)
Always wear appropriate clothing. Always wear
loose-fitting clothing and jewellery. Keep your
hair, clothing and gloves well away from moving
parts. Loose clothing, jewellery and/or long hair
can become snagged in moving parts.
g)
If it is possible to attach a vacuum or
catchment device, then check to ensure that
they are firmly attached and are being used pro-
perly. Using a dust extraction device can reduce
the dust contact/inhalation hazard.
4) Using and Handling the Power Tool

appropriate power tool for the job at hand. Wor-
