Installation examples
ATTENTION
The installation may only be carried out by approved, skilled personnel. General
guidelines and local installation regulations must be complied with!
Special measures and protective equipment for metering hazardous or aggressive
chemicals are not listed here.
When using them, it is imperative that you follow statutory regulations and the relevant
product data sheet.
NOTE
The installation examples and applications listed here are of a functional nature. They
provide an overview of correct forms of installation, or approaches to be avoided, in order
to ensure that the pump works properly.
E)
The metering pump should ideally be positioned on or over the
metering container.
NOTE
In the case of media which tend towards
sedimentation, the base suction valve or the foot
valve of the suction line / suction lance must be
mounted above the expected sludge layer.
F)
A ball cock (
4
) can be installed in the pressure tube so that the
metering pump can be simply bled with a metering
back
‑
pressure of > 0.05 MPa (0.5 bar). The bleed line should be
fed back into the container in a depressurised state.
ATTENTION
The bleed line must not be fed back into the
metering pump’s suction tube!
G)
A positive pressure difference of at least 0.1 MPa (1 bar) must
exist between the back-pressure at the injection point and the
pressure at the metering pump. If this is not the case, a
pressure maintaining valve (
2
) must be installed in the metering
line.
Fig. 7.1
In addition, the installation of an appropriate safety overflow valve (
3
) is recommended to
prevent impermissibly high levels of pressure in the metering line.
This valve's overflow line should be fed back into the container in a depressurised state.
ATTENTION
The overflow line must not be fed back into the metering pump's suction tube!
NOTE
Rather than both a pressure maintaining valve and overflow valve, it is also possible to use a
multi-functional valve from our product range.
H)
A spring-loaded injection or metering valve (
1
) should be installed at the injection
point (including with supplying metered amounts into depressurised systems).
For outgassing media and products with a viscosity of > 100
mPas, flooded suction is recommended.
In using this method, however, ensure that the injection point
is positioned over the discharge container and/or an
appropriate pressure maintaining valve (
2
) is installed.
These measures prevent the discharge container from being
siphoned empty.
