Important
•Please make sure that only experienced specialists are connecting the machine to the water-supply
and installing a pressure regulator.
•To avoid calcification of the machine a water-softener is recommended. An 8l-water-softener
(item-no. 89530) is available in the ECM range of products.
Regarding a regular prophylactic descaling of your machine, follow the instructions in chapter
“7.3 Prophylactic descaling” on page 29. For the descaling of machines in use with direct water
connection, please contact your specialised service dealer.
Important
• In case you should decide on a direct connection of the machine to the drain system, a hole has to
be drilled in the bottom of the drip tray. This alteration can be carried out by experienced specialists
or by ECM Manufacture service.
• Connect a hose (inner diameter Ø 15 mm) to the designated connector on the bottom side of the
machine and to a preinstalled siphoned drain.
5 FIRST
USE
5.1 First use
Read the instruction manual carefully prior to operating the machine.
Prior to starting the machine, check if:
•
the steam and hot water valves are closed.
•
the machine is switched off. (Power switch in lower position.)
•
the power cord is disconnected.
•
the drip tray is inserted accurately.
Now you can start up your machine:
Water tank machine or machine in use with water tank
1
Open the cup warmer tray.
2
Take out the water tank and rinse it thoroughly.
3
Fill the water tank with fresh water deficient in lime, place it back into the water tank guides and close the cup
warmer tray.
4
Insert the plug into the wall socket. Turn the power switch to “1”. The machine is now on.
5
The green control lamp lights up.
6
The pump will fill the boiler of the machine with fresh water.
7
As soon as the boiler is filled, there will be no more pump noise; the orange control lamp is now on. As soon as
the fresh water sinks down to a certain level in the fresh water tank, the machine is switched off and the light of
the orange control lamp switches off. Now refill fresh water. The machine heats up automatically.
8
Because a large amount of water is required for the first filling of the boiler, the water tank has to be refilled with
fresh water.
