2-3-1 PRIMARY FUSING
Located in the bottom left corner of the 5X
Chassis is a fuse designed to protect the
primary side of the Control Power
Transformer. For safety reasons the
primary fusing is concealed beneath a
metal plate (See Figure 2-3-1.1). To check
and or replace the primary fusing this plate
must be removed. The fuse itself is
secured behind the black fuse cover (See
Figure 2-3-1.2). In a Pow-R-Command 100
Relay Cabinet & Control Cabinet, the
primary fusing is
not
concealed, and is
located in the upper right of the unit. If
replacing the fuse, the replacement must be
a
2.5 ampere time delay fuse rated
500V ac with an interrupting rating of
10kA that is UL listed only.
---WARNING---
When preforming any maintenance on
the primary fusing, disconnect all
power to the panelboard. Failure to
do so may cause property damage,
personnel injury, or even death.
2-3-2 CONTROL POWER TRANSFORMER
To provide control voltage to operate
switching devices, a Control Power
Transformer (CTP) is provided in each 5X
Control Chassis, Pow-R-Command 100
Relay Cabinet, and Pow-R-Command 100
Control Cabinet. The primary side of the
CPT is a dual tap system meaning that
there is a wire lead for 120V ac operation
or 277V ac operation. If the application
calls for 120V ac, a
red
wire lead will be
extending out of the structure. Conversely,
if the application calls for 277V ac, a
yellow
wire lead will be extending form
the control chassis. The unneeded wire
lead will be terminated and capped before
shipment.
When the using the 5X Control Chassis,
power to the CPT is taken directly from the
B-Phase of bus bar. The Primary fusing
described in SUBSECTION 2-3-2 provides
protection to the CPT.
---WARNING---
Before preforming any maintenance
on the control power transformer,
remove all power to the panel at the
source.
2-3-3 SECONDARY POWER SWITCH
The secondary power switch provides a
convenient way to remove power to the
downstream of the CPT (See Figure 2-3-
3.1). In addition, the secondary power
switch acts to provide over-current
protection to the JCI100 Controller. The
secondary power switch will
trip to
center
in the event of an over-current or
magnetic trip. To reset the switch press it
to the “On” position.
--Warning--
Even if the secondary power switch is
switched to the off position line
voltage will still be present on the
primary side of the transformer.
---Notice----
If the secondary power switch
continues to trip to center, remove all
power to the panel at the main device
& check primary fusing and all termina-
tion connection in the structure.
2-3-4 LINE FILTER
The 5X Control Chassis, Pow-R-Command
100 Relay Cabinet, and Pow-R-Command
100 Control Cabinet all contain a line filter
on the secondary side of the transformer.
The line filter is physically located directly
behind the secondary power switch.
Generally speaking, the purpose of the line
filter is to cleanse the power being fed to
the JCI100. Very little to no maintenance is
ever required on the line filter. Simply know
that the line filter is fed from the secondary
power switch & control power transformer.
