6-11 TROUBLESHOOTING CHART (Continued)
SYMPTOM
PROBABLE CAUSE(S)
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
Circuit breaker cannot be closed
locally, but can be closed remotely
Push button switch wiring problem
Inspect for loose wires at green "Push to
Close" push button
Controller wiring problem
Inspect for loose wires into terminals
controller
Circuit breaker makes no attempt to
close with either local (manual) or
remote controls
Wiring problem from auxiliary switch to controller
(Controller thinks breaker is already closed)
LED on Controller labeled “circuit breaker
ON” should be off
Inspect for loose wires/continuity from
terminals 3 & 4 on Aux Switch to terminals
X1:3-X1:4 on controller & inspect for loose
wires from terminals 5 & 6 on Aux Switch to
terminals X1:9-X1:10 on controller
Wiring problem from Controller to Close Coil of EM-
Actuator
Inspect for loose wires/continuity from
terminals X2:2-X2:3 on Controller to Close
Coil wires on EM-Actuator (Close coil wires
are thick with black and white insulation)
Defective or Damaged Controller/Auxiliary
Switch/Close Coil
Contact EATON Service Center
Circuit breaker interlock is preventing close
Ensure circuit breaker is fully racked in or
out of enclosure
Verify that the emergency open handle/rod
assembly is changing state of normally
open switch located behind it in mechanism
assembly
Check all interlock switches for
obstructions
Circuit breaker fails to charge closing
capacitor bank
Wiring problem from Power Supplies Controller to
Capacitor Bank
Inspect for loose wires/continuity from
ter48V & GND on Power Supplies
to terminals X1:1-X1:2 on controller &
inspect for loose wires/continuity from
terminals X2:1-X2:4 on controller to all
terminals on capacitor bank
Knobs on Capacitor/Resistor relay are incorrectly
adjusted
Check that both knobs on relay are set to
their fully counter clockwise position
Defective or Damaged Power Supply
Check that each Power Supply outputs
48VDC across ter48V & GND
If either Power Supply does not output
48VDC, contact EATON Service Center
Defective or Damaged Controller
Check the voltage across terminals X1:1-
X1:2 on controller
If the voltage is not 95VDC, contact EATON
Service Center
Defective or Damaged Capacitor(s)
Check the voltage across terminals on
each capacitor
If the voltage is not 95VDC, contact EATON
Service Center
