f) Unwind the extension cable fully from the cable extension reel to prevent possible
overheating.
3) Personal Safety
a) Danger of suffocation! Keep the packaging material away from children and animals.
b) Do not process any workpieces containing pollutants as harmful (e.g. carcinogenic)
substances may be released. Dusts from materials such as paint containing lead,
some types of wood, minerals and metal may be harmful to health. Touching or
breathing in the dusts may cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory diseases for
the user or people located nearby. Certain dusts such as oak or beech dust are
considered to be carcinogenic, particularly in conjunction with additives used for
wood treatment (chromate, wood preservative). Material which contains asbestos
may only be handled by specialist experts.
–
Make sure that your workplace is well ventilated.
–
Wear a respiratory mask.
–
Follow the regulations which apply in your country to the materials which are to be
processed.
c) Only hold the power tool
fi
rmly by the gripping surfaces. Before you switch on the
device and while using it, keep all body parts away from the cutting area to ensure
you are not injured.
d) Familiarise yourself with the device before you
fi
rst use it. Make sure in particular
that you know how to switch the device on and off.
e) Do not grip underneath the workpiece and never hold the workpiece in your hand
or over your leg. Always secure workpieces on a stable working surface in order to
minimise the risk of body contact or loss of control.
f) There is a risk of cut injuries even when the device is switched off! The edges of the
cutters are sharp. Wear protective gloves when inserting or removing the cutters.
g) Danger of burns! Shortly after use, the tool attachment which has been used and the
processed workpiece may be very hot. Allow the tool attachment and the workpiece
to cool down before you touch them.
h) It is impossible to prevent the impact of noise from this device. You should therefore
take suitable periods of rest.
i) It is essential that you, and all people in the vicinity of the switched-on device, wear
appropriate hearing protection and where possible limit the level of exposure in are-
as in which the noise level exceeds 85 dB(A). If in spite of hearing protection any kind
of discomfort arises, stop work immediately and check the hearing protection to es-
tablish whether it
fi
ts and works properly. Make sure that it provides an appropriate
level of protection for the noise level which is produced by the device which is used.
j) When some tool attachments are used, the user is exposed to vibrations which
may lead to loss of the sense of touch, numbness, a tingling sensation and a reduc-
tion in the gripping strength of the hand. Long-term exposure may result in chronic
complaints. If necessary, limit the level of exposure to vibrations and wear vibration-
reducing gloves. Do not use this tool with cold hands as vibrations display a stronger
effect at temperatures below your individual comfort level. Assess the vibration ex-
posure using the Technical Data for the device and establish the acceptable length
and frequency of exposure.
k)
WARNING: The actual vibration strength may differ from the
fi
gures which are quot-
