nects are required or desired, the switch-
ing elements of the higher-level control
system have to enable this feature.
The operation characteristics of the fan
are given on the graph to the right.
3 Operation
Caution
Be sure that all provisions of
Sect. 1.1 and 1.2 above are
strictly complied with for both
the installation and the op-
eration. Failure to do so may
expose you to hazardous situ-
ations.
The fan must always be operated by
specialized personnel qualified to do
it and trained on it, where the notion
of operation covers only cleaning and
maintenance as described in Sect. 3.1 and 3.2. During normal operation,
the product neither needs nor can be operated by its users.
Important
Regularly clean any external deposits (e. g., dust, fluid residues)
on and around the fan. Also regularly check the impeller for any
contaminations or cake build-ups and clean it as needed.
3.1 Maintenance
Maintenence includes service work as described in Sect. 3.2. In addition
to those steps, what follows has to be performed, exclusively by special-
ized personnel. If required by law or any management instruction, the
steps of maintenance and their result (pass or fail, with steps to undertake
in order to correct non-compliance) have to be documented.
Caution
Prior to starting maintenance, switch off or disconnect power to
the product, ideally with a maintenance switch, to be sourced
on site, but highly recommended.
Monthly
• Check the fan for proper and safe position, paying close attention
to any operation-induced vibrations. Retighten screws as needed.
• Check the connectors of the downstream and upstream pipelines
for proper fit and tightness.
Half-yearly
• Check the (safety) disconnect switch of the higher-level control
system for proper state of repair and serviceability/function.
Yearly
• Check the enclosure for tension-induced cracks and verify the
smooth running. Make sure the impeller does not exhibit any distor-
tions, wear, and/or cake build-up.
According to applicable maintenance instructions, at least yearly
• Check the customer’s safety devices for continued proper setting,
functionality and function.
• Check the fan motor for continued normal running/operation. In
doing so, check it also for proper and stable position.
