2.1 Installing and Checking out
Caution
All installation steps (electrical, fluid mechanical, fluid compat-
ibility assessment) are to be performed exclusively by personnel
specializing in the relevant type of activity.
Important
If storing the product pre-installation or moving or transporting it
at or to the worksite is required, it has to be handled with care.
In particular, this means that storage should be indoors or, if
outdoors, under a tarpaulin or cover at 0 - 40°C (32 - 104°F).
Whenever it is moved or transported, make sure that the plastic
enclosure is under no stress from shock, strain or pressure.
Any damage in transport at hand-over to the customer or spe-
cialized, installing operation shall be notified without delay, no
later than within 48 hours, in order for any warranty claims to
be able to be raised.
1. The fan should be installed according to the installation/system plan
present or drawn on site. The set-up design has to be such that fan
operation will result in negative pressure at the shaft bushing.
2. Install the suction and exhaust pipes per the installation plan.
If there is a risk for foreign bodies to fall or to be sucked into
the fan, install an in-line screen (min. IP20, per EN 60529)
before and one after the fan.
3. If the fan is not fitted to the pipeline with its flange, but is
installed supported by its bracket, the installation of pulse
dampers is recommended in order to minimize operation-
induced vibrations.
4. Verify that the impeller turns freely without hitting or scratching
anything. If so, install the fan in the system, either by fasten-
ing its bracket (with pulse dampers) to a suitable surface or
by fittinng it to the previously installed pipeline with its flange.
The connection to the pipes should be made with flexible
sleeves. During or before the installation, remove any foreign
bodies from inside the fan and the downstream and upstream lines
and units of the system.
5. Use the mounting box to connect the fan to the power supply net-
work on site (see photograph to the right). Installing a maintenance
switch (circuit breaker for easy disconnect for maintenance and other
work), to be sourced on site, is highly recommended.
Important
Only now, when it is completely installed, the fan may be oper-
ated, never, however, when it is not set in the system.
6. Check the direction of the impeller by switching the motor on for a
moment and comparing it to the arrow on the casing. If it turns the
wrong way, the motor polarity has to be changed, observing any and
