First wall logs
It is very important that you take your time to ensure that the base
with the bearers and first layer of wall logs are level and square.
Continue to check if the cabin is square (measuring diagonals)
and the walls are level every 4 layers of wall logs.
The first layer of logs needs to overhang the bearers by 5mm all around
Fix the first layer of logs to the bearers using 70mm screws to secure
them at intervals of approx. 400mm (pre-drill to avoid splitting the timber)
Front & Rear
Right & Left
Once the first layer of logs is in place, check if the diagonals
are equal A=B, this is imperative for a good build
Continue laying wall logs as per the specific wall layouts
Use a hitting block and hammer to hit the wall log into place
with the tongues facing upwards
DO NOT hit the tongues directly as this will damage them
Temporarily place the wall logs
next to the bearers to check that
diagonal measurements are equal A=B
