8. APN settings
The F-GSM card requires appropriate Internet Access Point (APN) settings. Otherwise, it will
not be able to communicate with the server. The factory APN settings correspond to the
settings of the leading networks.
Factory APN settings:
name: internet
user:
pass:
User and pass are empty. If the LEDs indicate error no. 6, set the appropriate APN
parameters for the operator whose card is used by means of SMS.
The name of the operator and the current APN settings can be downloaded from the card
using the SMS command "getapn". The syntax is as follows (letter case of the command and
any spaces are not important):
#card_mac_address,getapn
Changing the APN settings by sending an SMS to the SIM number of the card located
in the F-GSM with the following content (letter case in the parameter values is important, in
the command it does not matter):
#card_mac_address,setapn="name_apn","user_apn","password_apn"
The card mac address can be read from the sticker or from the FLEX receiver menu (Et.AF
function).
9. GSM signal strength
Make sure that the device is installed in places where GSM coverage is reliable. The signal
strength can be checked in the FLEX receiver menu (Et.Si function). If the displayed value is
lower than -80 (e.g. -85), it means a weak signal and you should verify the correct installation
of the antenna, check if the correct type of socket and antenna are installed. The card is
delivered with a GSM antenna. In case of poor coverage of the GSM network, an external
antenna should be used instead of the one supplied with the card. Alternatively, consider
changing to an operator with better coverage in your area.
