Do not remove the demand valve before cleaning it externally with a wet cloth in order to
avoid that the internal of the demand valve and of the mask are reached by contaminants.
Unplug (if not already done) the medium pressure coupling and protect it by the rubber plug.
Check by pressing deeply the red button on the demand valve that the pneumatic circuit is
depressurized.
Release the waist buckle.
A shower is can be taken with the breathing apparatus, the user can shower the mask leaving
the demand valve connected to it. After showering the P3 filter must always be disposed of.
After showering it is possible to remove the rubber cover of the demand valve for cleaning.
The user is not allowed to oped the demand valve.
Cleaning and disinfection
A general external cleaning can be achieved by passing over all the external surfaces a humid
cloth.
Mask
The full face mask used during operation should be cleaned after each use and disinfected
if there are reasons to suspect that it has been contaminated during action or if it has to be
used by another operator.
The exhalation valve assemblies can be detached from the facepiece before cleaning.
To keep SFERA masks in full working order, it is necessary that maintenance, cleaning and
disinfection procedures are periodically carried out. The user must ensure that the respiratory
protective device is periodically checked as indicated in the user’s manual supplied by the
manufacturer.
The mask must be cleaned every time it is used. Lack of cleaning, besides hygienic problems,
can also jeopardize the correct functioning of the device. Washing can be performed in a
traditional way by dipping in water, or by ultrasonic washing. In both cases, depending on the
need to perform a deep cleaning of the mask due to its conditions, it can be disassembled
and all the components can be cleaned separately. Washing the speech module and
disassembling of the positive pressure assembly is not recommended. Ultrasonic washing
has to be done with SONOREX SUPER RK514BH equipment or RK1028CH which can be
supplied by D.P.I. s.r.l.. Using different equipment can damage the correct functioning of the
masks. Ultrasonic washing temperature must be set at a temperature not higher than 40°C
using a mild detergent (Degreaser cod. 4437.0370) 5% dilution in water. Traditional washing
can be performed with tepid water and a mild detergent (Degreaser cod. 4437.0370) 5%
dilution in water. In any case, never use solvents! After cleaning it thoroughly, rinse under
running water and hung up to dry in open air, avoid in any case exposure to direct solar
radiation, or in special cupboards. During drying pay attention not to expose the mask to
direct contact with hot parts or with hot air (warmer than 45°C) or to direct solar radiation
in order to avoid damages to rubber parts. Check that after cleaning operations no traces of
detergent are left otherwise repeat rinsing and drying. If the mask has been disassembled for
washing, a leak tightness test with test equipment has to be performed. If the mask has been
exposed to chemicals particularly toxic, biological or radioactive agents, maintenance has to
be performed by specialized personnel or by D.P.I. s.r.l. Maintenance and Assistance Service.
