Cleaning the Bottle Sensor and Reflective Tape
The bottle sensor sends a beam to the reflective tape (Figure 3-1) to
sense when an ink bottle is present in the bottle guide. It is
recommended that the bottle sensor and reflective tape be cleaned
every six months. The bottle sensor and reflective tape can be
cleaned when routinely adding a new ink bottle..
When the coder is at operating temperature, a bottle of ink can be
added only when the
INK
LED is on or blinking. The ink door will
remain locked until the coder is ready to accept another bottle of ink.
Figure 3–1
1. Open the ink door.
2. Remove the empty bottle from the chamber.
CAUTION: Hot Surfaces. The aluminum surface at the bottom
of the bottle guide can be hot. To prevent injury from burns,
use a protective glove when cleaning the sensor and reflective
tape.
3. Wear a protective glove. Using a clean dry Markem-Imaje Print
Head Wipe, carefully clean the sensor, reflective tape, and the
surrounding area. Do not use solvents or chemicals.
4. Remove the cap from a new ink bottle, and insert the ink bottle
upside-down into the bottle guide.
5. Close the ink door.
