Select the appropriate backset and mark the vertical 

centerline

Position template as shown, aligning the horizontal and 

vertical centerlines, then attach template on the device side 

of the door. Mark the location of the required cut-outs and 

mounting holes. Consult the door preparation and template 

for the trim (if used) in order to prepare the exterior side of 

the door.

Backset and Door Stile width are determined by the applicable 

type of door and frame configuration and application

Backset must be measured from the 

outer edge of the door as shown.

A 1/4" gap is required 

between the bottom of the 

door at the finished floor 

or threshold.
