8.1. Word Mobile
The phone’s built-in Microsoft Word Mobile® application gives you the
ability to browse and edit Microsoft Office Word® documents on the
PC. You can also create and edit documents and templates in Word
Mobile® and save them as doc, rtf, txt, and dot format files.You can also
modify the Word Mobile® files default save location, add new file default
templates, and list file types while browsing files.
Word Mobile® supported functions:
Picture item symbol
Mark modified
Table style
Underline style: although Word Mobile® does not support underline
styles, they can be replaced with one of the four following styles, nor
mal, dotted, waves, or bold/thick/wide.
Old Pocket Word® file: you can open *.psw files in Word Mobile®. If
you wish to edit the specific file, you must first save the file as doc, rtf,
txt, or dot format
Word Mobile® does not support all Office Word® functions.When you
save files on the phone, you might lose some information or formatting.
Word Mobile® does not support these functions:
Background
Style and text boxl Art frames
Smart tags
Meta files
Bi-directional text: even though Word Mobile® can open bi-directional
character
documents, it may not be able to correctly display,
save or align them
Password protected files: if you wish to view a password protected
document on
the device, you must first remove the Microsoft
Office Word® password protec
tion on the PC

You can configure the “File” syncing option in ActiveSync, enabling
synchronization between the My Documents folder on the PC with
the My Documents folder on the phone. This will also place Word
and other Office documents at this location. For help with ActiveSync
settings, please refer to Chapter 6. If an Office document file is too
large and takes up a great deal of memory on the phone,save the
document on the memory card to conserve memory space on the
