When the remote control is set up to operate your TV, the 

MUTE

 and 

VOLUME

 buttons will adjust your TV volume. To use the remote to 

adjust the volume of a remote-controllable audio receiver or amplifier 
instead of adjusting the TV’s volume setting, use the steps in the left 
column of the table. To switch back to controlling the TV’s volume, 
use the steps in the right column of the table.
