8.0 Adding Throttles: LocoNet & Jump Ports:
Sooner or later you will probably want to have other people to run trains with
you. This means you’ll have to add more throttles to your DCS52 system.
You can add compatible LocoNet throttles to your DCS52, or you can use one
or two smooth DC power packs as jump throttles.
8.1 Adding LocoNet Throttles To Your DCS52:
A compatible LocoNet throttle can be used with your DCS52. Simply plug this
LocoNet throttle into either LocoNet port on the back of your DCS52 or into
any LocoNet or Throttle Jack anywhere on your LocoNet system.
If you want to be able to plug in a throttle at a remote location, we recommend
using a UP5 or UP7 Universal Panel.
8.2 JUMP Ports: Using a Smooth DC Power Pack As An
Additional Throttle:
DCS52’s Jump 1 & 2 ports can host two DC power packs as additional throt-
tles that control locomotive speed and direction.
Begin with an operating DCS52 attached to your layout. Hook up one or two
smooth DC power packs as shown in the following illustration
. This configura
-
tion gives you three throttles to control three DCC loco addresses.
