IDE Device Drivers
The 586OP system board incorporates a high perfor-
mance PCI IDE interface. It uses the NS PC87410 PCI
IDE chip and is equipped with two 40-pin IDE connec-
tors.
The 586OP comes with two PCI IDE driver diskettes.
The “PC87410 PCI IDE Device Drivers” diskette in-
cludes drivers for DOS, Windows 3.1x and Windows
for Workgroups 3.1x, Windows NT, OS/2 2.1x, and
Novell NetWare 3.1x and 4.x. The “PC87410 PCI IDE
SCO UNIX Drivers” diskette includes drivers for SCO
UNIX 3.2.2 and 3.2.4.
Installation Utility
To run the Installation Utility, type:
A:\INSTALL.BAT
The Installation Utility includes the following options.
1.
R/W Multiple
- This option is for setting the “multiple
sectors transfer per interrupt”. This is not supported
by all drives. “Disabled” will be shown in this field
if a drive does not support this option. The default
value for HDDs supporting this option would be the
largest allowed multiple sectors transfer per interrupt.
2.
Track Remapping
- Required to support HDDs larger
than 528MB capacity or cylinders greater than 1024.
Operating systems other than NetWare require
device drivers to work with drives larger than
528MB.
