DDEC VI SERIES 60 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
43.1 SPN 3660/FMI 5
This diagnosis is typically the injector spill valve current is below normal or an open circuit fault.
43.1.1
Open Circuits with the Ignition OFF Check
Check as follows:
1. Check for multiple codes.
[a] If fault code 168/1 is active in addition to 3659/5, service 168/1
fi
rst. Refer to section
12.2.
[b] If fault 3659/5 and 3661/5 are active in addition to 3660/5, repair the open circuit in
the harness between pin 11, 13, and 15 of the 120–pin MCM connector and terminal
and pin 3 of injectors #1, #2, and #3 connector. Refer to section 43.1.3.1.
[c] If only fault code 3660/5 is active, go to step 2.
2. Turn the ignition OFF.
3. Disconnect the Injector Harness 23–pin connector.
4. Measure the resistance between pin O and pin P on the valve cover side of the connector.
[a] If the resistance is less than 3
Ω
, refer to section 43.1.2.
[b] If the resistance is greater than 3
Ω
, go to step 7.
5. Remove the valve cover.
6. Disconnect the #2 injector.
7. Measure the resistance between pin 3 of the injector connector and pin O of the injector
harness 23–pin connector.
[a] If the resistance is greater than 3
Ω
, repair the open between pin 3 of the injector
connector and pin O of the injector harness 23–pin connector. Refer to section
43.1.3.1.
[b] If the resistance is less than 3
Ω
, go to step 8.
8. Measure the resistance between pin 4 of the injector connector and pin P of the injector
harness 23–pin connector.
[a] If the resistance is greater than 3
Ω
, repair the open between pin 4 of the injector
connector and pin P of the injector harness 23–pin connector. Refer to section
43.1.3.1.
[b] If the resistance is less than 3
Ω
, refer to section 43.1.3.
