1. Overview
Your DEMA E-bike meets the requirements of European standards EN 15194:2017,
thus falls into category EPAC (Electrically Power Assisted Cycle = „bicycle with auxiliary elec
-
tric propulsion“). In terms of the law on road traffic, EPAC is considered to be normal bicycle
and driving license is not required. Maximum continuous rated motor output for EPAC E-bikes
is limited to 250W. Propulsion is activated by pedalling, where the motor assistance is cut off
when the cyclist stops pedalling and is otherwise progressively reduced and finally cut off
before the E-bike speed reaches 25 km/h. E-bike can also be set in motion with the “walk”
button to the maximum permissible speed of 6 km/h (e.g. for assistance when walking). The
design allows for complete deactivation of motor assistance and continuing in ride as on nor
-
mal bicycle without any resistance. The electric drive system has IP54 protection.
Charging device
Use only the original charging device. The charging device should only be used in a dry location
and should not be covered during its operation. Failure to observe this could lead to a fire or a
short circuit. Always disconnect the charging device from the power supply before cleaning it.
Maintenance and care
Only the specialist dealership may perform maintenance and care operaons on parts that con
-
duct electricity! Use only factory originals or parts approved by the manufacturer as replace
-
ments on your pedelec. Failure to observe this will void the warranty and liability. Remove
the baeries from the pedelec before cleaning it. When cleaning the battery, make sure that it
does not touch any conducve surfaces, as this could injure you and damage the battery! Use
of a high-pressure water jet for cleaning can damage the electric equipment, as due to its high
pressure, water could get inside even insulated components. Take care not to damage cables
or any other components. In case of any damage, get your pedelec examined by your specialist
dealership. Following the damage the pedelec may not be used unl it is examined!
Wear and liability
Please bear in mind that the parts of a pedelec are exposed to greater wear than those of a
traditional bicycle without electric drive. The reason for this is the greater weight and higher
average speed of the pedelec. A higher rate of wear does not constitute a defect of the mate
-
rial, and the warranty does not cover it.
Parts most exposed to wear
- Tires
- Spokes
- Brake pads
- Chain
- Cassette
The battery also ages, and is therefore considered a wearing part. Bear in mind that over time
the battery will lose from its capacity. Consider this when planning a trip and take a spare bat
-
tery with you, if necessary. You can purchase a spare battery from your specialist dealership.
Warning:
It is forbidden to change the permanent rated power of 250 W and the maximum speed of
25 km/h of the electric bike electric drive. Such a change is illegal and cancel all warranties
for such a modified e-bike!
1.1. Bafang drive system
Rear-drive motor has a rated power of 250W and a maximum torque of 45 N.m, provides ideal
power for treking, touring a city e-bikes.
The BAFANG HMI with a high-contrast LCD display delivers all important information at a
glance and can also be read in direct sunlight without difficulty. The operating of the overall
system is integrated into the HMI and does not require an additional handlebar controller.
The entire system is not limited to using only the batteries of its production, so it is possible
to use a wide range of batteries suitable for electric bicycles.
